There are so many tomatoes to try, from black to white, and all shades of yellow, orange and red in-between. Shapes can vary from cherry to oblong or heart-shaped. We love to try some new ones every year so our list gets longer and longer because they all have something great about them.

Tangella

Prolific yellow medium sized tomato. Sweet taste and low acid content. Still cropping in November 2015. Average 25 seeds/packet.

Moonglow

As the name suggests, this is a beautiful globe shaped tomato with golden yellow flesh and skin, that glow like a harvest moon. The fruits that are dense and meaty, with thick walls and few seeds. Average 20 seeds per packet

Earl of Edgecombe

Vibrant yellow tomato, with excellent well balanced flavour, not too sweet and not too tart. Fruit grow to 3”. A New Zeland family heirloom brought to the UK by the 7th Earl of Edgecombe. The 7th Earl, a former sheep farmer, brought the tomato back from New Zealand in the 1960s when he claimed the title. He gave the seed to the Henry Doubleday Foundation. We got it from the Jean Perry of Glebe Gardens in Baltimore.

Hillbilly Very large, brilliant yellow colour with red marbling, beautiful when sliced. An heirloom believed to be from West Virginia. It has a rich, sweet flavour. Average 25 seeds/packet

Yellow Perfection

Golf ball sized fruit, with good sweet flavour, a great producer right up to October, We got this variety from Head gardener Susan Trainer, at Ballymaloe House. It is allegedly an old English heirloom tomato. New to us in 2016. Average 25 seeds/packet.

Auriga

Golden tomatoes on compact plants, sourced from the queen of tomatoes, at Glebe Gardens in Baltimore, Jean Perry. This also proved to be very early with the first fruit coming in at the end of June. For a yellow it had good flavour and appearance and would look nice on a farmer's market stall. Average 25 seeds/packet
